Bobby: Musicotherapy Chatbot to improve well-being

Chatbots offering therapy has many advantages, both in terms of cost and accessibility. Besides chatbots, music is a daily activity that has many impacts on our emotions. It can change them and improve them. Chatbots used for therapeutic purposes has already proven to be effective in psychology. It also has long used music in therapy. It is, therefore, on these bases that we designed Bobby our chatbot offering music therapy. The dialogue follows a therapy procedure consisting of three phases: exploration, insight, and action. Bobby asks questions about the mood, the emotional state to define the person's present emotion about a specific event. The music is proposed according to the person's music taste, emotional state, and whether they want to change it or strengthen it. Fourteen participants tested the chatbot. No statistical analysis is done yet, but the preliminary result shows a positive effect on the strengthening group.
